Groom's Dinner

This past weekend mommy's brother was married.  Festivities kicked off on Friday evening at the bride's grandmother's home which would also be the location of the wedding ceremony.  It was a very hot and humid night but that did not slow down the kids.  They spent hours running around the beautiful grounds and loved watching the animals which included bull frogs, koi fish, peacocks, and chickens.  All three of the children and mommy are members of the wedding party.  Look for another post soon on the big wedding day.

June 2013 TKD Belt Test

The boys kicked off summer vacation with a bang by acing their taekwondo belt test.  Kyle graduated from the beginner program by demonstrating all three beginner forms, sparring skills, self defensive techniques and hoping side kick break.  He was awarded a trophy and his new purple belt.  As an added challenge Master Lee had him compete against a teenage girl in reciting the black belt success cycle.  He did such a wonderful job for only being 6 years old and was award a medal for his strong efforts.  He loves to wear it with pride.  Cameron now proudly wears a blue with brown strip belt.  He had a wonderful test but did have to attempt his back kick break a few times.  The good thing was he did not give up and kept at it until he successful broke his board.

Random Pics from the Last Few Months

A rare night out for mommy and daddy - family wedding

Master Lee explaining to Cameron what it means to be a black belt.  He is working so hard to one day achieve that goal.

Kyle was in little boy heaven - the fire department did a controlled burn of a neighborhood house for practice.  He loved watching it go up in flames.

The end of school is always an enjoyable time for kids.  The thoughts of a fun filled summer is highly anticipated.  But before its no more teachers, no more books, its school performance time.

Cameron's Animal Open House:
Each 3rd grader at the school showed off their research and writing skills by writing about an animal of their choice and producing a book and poster.  The students held an open house for family and friends to share their new found knowledge.  Cameron's animal of choice was the River Otter.

Kyle's Spring Sing and Kindergarten Graduation
Oh, how in the world is Kyle old enough to have graduated from kindergarten?  What a year it has been.  He has grown so much and learned so much in one short school year.  It's amazing!  To celebrate their achievements the kids performed several songs for the proud parents, siblings, and grandparents.  Grandma Judy and Grandpa Al joined us for the night festivities.  Congratulations Kyle!

Mother's Day 2013

One thing mommy has long wanted in our backyard has been a fire pit.  This year daddy and the kids built one for mommy over Mother's Day weekend.  It was a wonderful gift along with all the handmade cards and gifts.  And it was just in time, as we have had a cool, wet spring.  Evening backyard fires have been a fun family activity.  The kids favorite part is making s'mores and helping daddy get the wood burning.  It was a wonderful mother's day.
