Road Trip

A few days after Korea Camp, we packed up the minivan and hit the road for our first big road trip as a family of five.  Our destination was the Tulsa, Oklahoma area - a mere 11.5 hours away.  But as with anything when small children are involved, things take much longer.  We decided to break the trip up a bit and spent the first night in the Kansas City area on the way down and Des Moines on our way home.  Why Tulsa as our destination of choice?  Simply put...family.  Our new family, family we have never met in person but have only known electronically, family that was formed 4 years ago half way across the world in an apartment in Seoul, South Korea, family that lost each other when new families were formed but family that is now found again...Lauren's foster sister, Avah!!!  More to come soon on the reunion....

Korea Camp 2013

The boys enjoyed another fun filled week at Camp Choson this year.  Camp Choson is a Korean Culture Camp here in Minnesota.  Throughout the week they enjoyed swimming, Korean lunches, a Korean market, archery, nature hikes, language and culture classes, self respect classes, music, dance, drumming, and tae kwon do.  Nearly all classes are taught by Korean instructors (some who fly in from South Korea) and their day camp counselors were Korean college students.  Mommy and daddy volunteered with the Korean language and culture teachers this year, which was lots of fun and super educational.  The focus for Camp this year was Korean food.  Yum!   Lauren joined everyone for the last day of camp and the final performances.  They are already looking forward to next year.

Wedding Day

On Saturday, June 22nd Uncle Dan (mommy's brother) married Tina.  We gained a wonderful aunt and two great cousins.  It was an extremely hot and sunny day and full of lots of activity.  Mommy and Lauren headed out to the ceremony site early to get ready with all the other ladies.  Later daddy took Cameron and Kyle to the ceremony location to get ready with the guys.  Mommy was so very happy to stand up with her new sister as one of the bridesmaids.  Lauren was a beautiful and charming flower girl.  She did a wonderful job of throwing the flower petals and standing with the other ladies during the ceremony.  Cameron and Kyle were junior groomsmen and took their jobs seriously and were so ever handsome in their suits and hats.  Daddy well let's just say he was in charge of keeping all of us kids in line but we really didn't need it.  Mommy says that later in the night at the reception he helped with the dancing and drinking.  The ceremony was beautiful and the reception that followed was a blast.  We had such a good time dancing and running around with our new cousins.  Congratulations to Uncle Dan and Aunt Tina.  We love you!!!
