Reunion - Day 1

Back in 2009, two little girls were placed in a loving foster home in South Korea.  Their names were MeeHyeon and NaYeon.  They were just a few months apart in age.  They grew up side by side for 13 months.  They played together, slept next to each other, stole each other bottles and toys, got into mischief together, laughed and learned together, and loved each other.  This all came to an end in July 2010, when MeeHyeon was adopted by us and became our daughter, Lauren, and had to leave everything behind her in South Korea.  We knew that Lauren had a foster sister but that is all we knew.  We had no pictures of this other little girl and no information.  At the same time we were bringing Lauren home, NaYeon was being matched with a wonderful family in Kansas.  She would join her new family about a year after Lauren and became known as Avah.  Through the wonders of Facebook our two families were able to find each other a little over a year ago.  Both families were in shock and overjoyed.  It was like we had another piece of the puzzle.  We emailed the girls' foster mother and sent us some photos of the girls together.  Oh my they are cute.  Both families talked about reuniting the girls one day and we were finally able to make that happened this July...three years after they had last seen each other in Korea.  And what a wonderful reunion it was.  The girls bonded immediately and seemed to pick right back up where they left off.  It was beautiful to witness.  And now we have the added bonus of new family.  Both of our families have two older children which is a blessing.  We can't wait to see you all again soon.

Your blog post is wonderful!! I am so thankful for our girls connection which brought them and us together. I have read once that adoption has a ripple effect... The blessings and surprises are ongoing and the ripples will never end. Your family is very precious to us and we look forward to seeing you all again!!
