1) Praying and giving thanks
2) Making and wearing the birthday clothes
3) Preparing the table and performing the Toljabee
4) Sharing the food with guests and neighbors
We are sad to have missed such an important milestone in Lauren's life but are comforted by the fact that she will have experienced this tradition and is spending it surrounded by so many people that love and care for her. We also loved the thought of MeeHyeon and her birth family being under the same sky for this special day. We know we will soon have a lifetime of special moments including birthdays with our daughter.
To mark Lauren's first birthday we held our own little celebration. Mommy and the boys baked and decorated red velvet cupcakes. We decorated the house in lots of pink and wrapped presents. And we of course, sang happy birthday. Here are a few snap shots from our small party.

Happy First Birthday little one. We love you and wish you all the happiness that this world can offer.
