The Long 4th of July Weekend

The long weekend began on Thursday, July 1st with a picnic at Snail Lake Park and some playing in the sand.  We enjoyed our fun family time despite the fact that our plates and food kept trying to blow away. Yes, it was that windy.

Friday we put out the kiddie pool and splashed around to beat the heat.

Saturday was by far the best day of the weekend.  We headed to Lakeside Commons Beach in Blaine.  It was wonderful!!!  It's a man-made lake so there wasn't a rock on the beautiful sandy beach and the water was so clear.  They have a roped off area for the kids and a deeper areas for the "big kids".  There is a great playground, volleyball courts, bike paths, boat rentals, and a splash pad.  We brought a picnic and made a day of it.  The boys loved making sand castles, running around the splash pad, and swimming.  Kyle didn't want to leave the water while Cam loved the sand.  This is for sure a beach we will be heading back to.  LOVED IT!!!

The actual 4th of July was a quiet one in our house.  It was very rainy in the AM, so we spent the day playing and cleaning.  We did manage to cook up some yummy Korean food on the grill after the rain passed.

Monday, Kyle had summer camp but daddy was off work.  So Cameron and daddy spent the AM at the park while Ky enjoyed camp.  Following lunch we all headed back to the park to take in our city's puppet wagon show.  We managed to squeeze in the show before the rain began again.  We even saw some funnel clouds on the walk home.  The rest of the day was a quiet one.

Sorry no pictures this week.  We used up a disposable water camera over the weekend and still need to develop it.  Catch up with you all again soon.
