Heartbreaking news today from our US adoption agency. They followed up with Eastern (our agency in Korea) again who just now informed them that our I600 approval (basically like the US approval to adopt Lauren) has been lost at the Embassy. Until it is either found or re-sent by the National Visa Center (NVC) here in the US, we can not bring Lauren home.
There are just so many aspects of this that we can't understand. First, how did they lose it and when? Why weren't we notified of this sooner so we could work on getting this problem fixed? How can you lose this when it's sent electronically and should be in their system? How did the Embassy send out her P3 (all of our US paperwork) to Eastern back in January without this (it can't be done)? Why was our program director told Lauren had her Visa - this couldn't be true without the I600? The questions go on and on and no one is providing us with answers.
Our specialist, Jill, at our agency stateside has been wonderful. She is on top of it and talked with someone at the NVC to get it resent. At first they wanted us to go back through USCIS to make this request, but she managed to convince the operator that this is urgent and she passed it along to her supervisor. Now we are at the mercy of this NVC supervisor. If this person deems this an emergency, they have to power to cable it over again immediately but if not, we are stuck with a longer wait and more steps to jump through.
My heart is hurting so much as I write this and full of questions. Please bring me peace and please let NVC expedite her approval to the Embassy (again). And please let the Embassy and Eastern expedite her case. We will keep you posted.

Oh Robin...I am so sorry that you have to go through this! I am asking all those same questions of WHY? It just doesn't make any sense! I am and will be praying for you and the NVC supervisor!
Thinking of you today:( Hope it gets resolved soon.
Oh, my heart sank when I read this. Robin, I'm so sorry. This is SO UNFAIR! I hope that supervisor picks up the ball and FIXES this ASAP. Oh, please, please, please ... I'm not the praying type but I'm praying for your family to get a quick and painless resolution of this. Hugs.
Robin,
You should have seen my daughter's face when she read this. It looked like my daughter was about to cry. I am so sorry about this. We will keep you in our prayers.
Kathleen
Like you I truly don't understand how and why these things happen when the only thing that matters is that you are a loving family waiting to give this precious girl a home. My heart hurts for you.
I am so glad that you have Jill working on it--she is awesome.
I will be praying.
